[23/05/23, 17:38:06] David Shackcloth: Hi Liz, this is David. Re your question; FYI it’s also easy in most places to find an ATM to get Euro cash. & here is some info from previous trips, in case of interest. (If you already know this I apologise).
Weather: expect temperatures up to 30+C (85+F) & usually sunny.
Cabins: comfortable, compact. Each has 1 or 2 fixed single beds: I suggest you bring one double sheet & wrap it below & above you; bring the thinnest lightest coolest sheet that you can. + a large rectangular pillowcase. + 1 or 2 hand-towel sized towels (full-length take too much space). You can buy all these easily/cheaply in Croatia. Some of us sleep on deck as cabins can remain hot (limited ventilation, no fans). Everything you bring must fit in your cabin, so the usual rules for holiday packing – pack your SOFT bag (not a hard suitcase) then take half of everything out! Bring the thinnest lightest clothes. Daytime on board crew mostly live in T-shirt & shorts; & swimwear or nude for swimming /sunbathing on deck. In the evening it never gets cold; though there might be a cooling breeze – so the easiest thing is bring 2 or 3 T-shirts & then you can double or treble layers if you need to (& also use them for sleeping in). Shorts/ short-sleeved shirts & flip-flops are perfectly respectable for dining in town. I didn’t use a long sleeve shirt or trousers in 3 months. What else? Light boots for hillside walking (two to four hours), anti-bite!, sun cream, shampoo, hat & a smile.

OK, here are some more answers 🙂
Water is very limited; eg even dishes are washed with seawater. Clothes washing is only practical at laundries onshore. Short showers, easiest taken on deck .
Electricity: most of the time we only have 12-volt DC; & there are more crew than outlets for charging phones or tablets. A power bank (charge the power bank, then use it to charge multiple devices); & a double USB car cigarette-lighter plug can be helpful.
Work: it’s useful to bring an old pair of thin shorts & thin gloves for doing jobs/work on “La Bum”: as on any boat, crew members are expected to help keep the inside, outside & hull shining, plus to help the skipper with simple repairs. It’s a common courtesy which doesn’t take long (could be an hr daily?) Plus you’ll be spending time on feeding yourself (& the crew), & chores include shopping (light bag useful), cooking, washing up.
FYI Luigi lives on La Bum. It is not a rented boat or holiday apartment; you are guests in someone’s home.
